Another highlight of Michael's visit to Austria was finding the statue of legendary ski instructor Hannes Schneider in the town of Stuben am Arlberg, where Schneider was born in 1890. Schneider pioneered the Arlberg Technique, and is credited with significantly helping to popularise skiing during the first half of the 20th century. He moved to the US in 1939, and died there in 1955.
